Shaggy rug cleaning

I do love my Shaggy rug, but was not too sure how to tackle it with my Dyson, or even if I should…

So, as ever, I knew that Des would have the answer:

“The Shaggy rug supplied by Majestic Rugs is produced in 100% Stain-resistant Polypropylene heat set yarn to provide the maximum opportunity to retain both pile definition and original good looks. This luxurious long-piled Shaggy rug is also produced in traditional Wilton Weave construction to provide excellent and sturdy surface tuft pile anchorage.

Tuft pile anchorage is important, as this allows the rug to be vacuumed with both a suction cleaner and a beater action floor cleaner, by following these simple rules –

A) The suction cleaner should be on a low setting.
B) The beater action cleaner should be on a high setting.

Before you vacuum your Shaggy rug it would be wise to lift and shake the rug in order to loosen any normal household dust and grit, and this will help to make vacuuming more efficient. Our Shaggy rug is a heavy product and therefore it may not be practical or possible to lift or to shake, and therefore I recommend that you lift one edge of the rug, and then flap the rug to create an air flow wave beneath the rug. This will help to loosen the dust and grit and allow for more efficient vacuuming.

Every three months I recommend that you turn the rug over completely and then vacuum the back of the rug to remove dust and grit. It is always surprising how this manages to congregate in spite of normal household cleaning. Regular vacuuming of all rugs and carpets is strongly recommended to prolong the product life and good looks and also to help prevent premature wear.

Caution: This advice is applicable to the Shaggy rug quality supplied by Majestic Rugs Ltd, and may not necessarily apply to other shaggy rug qualities available from other sources.”

Thanks, Des – thorough advice on how to keep my Shaggy rug in great condition.  I never thought to turn a rug over and vacuum the underside – what a great idea!

A sample of the Olive Green Shaggy Rug

This year’s new colours include an olive green shaggy rug, a gorgeous sapphire blue shaggy rug, and a snow white shaggy rug. The red rug has also been brightened, so now is less of a rusty red and is more vibrant.

Take a look at the full range and choose your sumptuous Shaggy rug

I have to admit that these rugs are lovely underfoot, having treated myself to one for the bedroom. And I make use of a sample strip just in front of the sofa – that is nice to rest my feet upon – I can see, with the new colours and sizes, that more shaggy rugs will be adorning our home this year!

Shaggy rugs – perfect for autumn?

Rugs for the autumn – well, it seems to have arrived already, or certainly we’re close.  And I do love these shaggy rugs that Des selected – I really must treat myself one day.   I’ve been testing the wearability of the Majestic shaggy rugs by “storing” the sample under my desk.  It is lovely underfoot (and working from home, bare feet are acceptable!) and still it is as sumptuous, soft and silky as when it arrived last year.

So – what colour?  Well I am intending a full bedroom update by the end of this year.  Now if I did not have a black cat,  I’d choose the ivory shaggy rug.  However – perhaps something a bit darker, perhaps red…

Mouse Rugs and bits & bobs

Some Sunday rug witterings…

Something I noticed quite a while ago was mouse mats in the style of a rug; finally I bought one a few months ago on eBay – after getting fed up of my mouse slipping and missing on the desk top or having to mess about with it all the time.

My Mouse Rug!The plan had also been to buy one for each of my clients for Christmas, however the one I have is not really up to gift standard – the base is a bit scrappy. But as a mouse mat, it’s wonderful – the best I’ve used. While not of a tufted design (which I was expecting for some reason) it is in fact a woven, almost silky ribbon type of construction. And certainly something that Des would like – must order one for him!

Without the foam base it would be a treat for any doll’s house, although my daughter makes do quite happily with a few of the rug samples kindly given to us by Des, and with some brightly coloured card.

I think the shaggy rugs would be a bit much and drown the inabitants! Though a sample from a rejected shaggy rug range (it is just not in the same league as the one Des did decide to sell) is welcome underfoot at my desk. Which reminds me to photograph some of our new shaggy rugs for the website too!
