Shaggy rugs - perfect for autumn?

Rugs for the autumn - well, it seems to have arrived already, or certainly we’re close.  And I do love these shaggy rugs that Des selected - I really must treat myself one day.   I’ve been testing the wearability of the Majestic shaggy rugs by “storing” the sample under my desk.  It is lovely underfoot (and working from home, bare feet are acceptable!) and still it is as sumptuous, soft and silky as when it arrived last year.

So - what colour?  Well I am intending a full bedroom update by the end of this year.  Now if I did not have a black cat,  I’d choose the ivory shaggy rug.  However - perhaps something a bit darker, perhaps red…

Large Shaggy Rugs

Did you know that it is quite easy to create your own larger sized shape and rug by joining multiples of Shaggy rugs together?

Many customers looking for larger oblong or square shaped rugs have asked about this possibility as there is obviously a demand for even larger sizes than we offer from our normal range. The pile height of our Shaggy rug quality is 50mm/2 inches which is ideal to disguise any join that may be considered.

For instance, we have been asked for a 400 cm square shaped rug which can be achieved by joining 4 rugs size 200cm x 200cm. We have also been asked for a very long rug sized approximately 200cm x 550cm and this could be achieved by joining 2 rugs size 200cm x 290cm and 200cm x 250cm.

Obviously joining these rugs should be carried out by an experienced and competent carpet fitter, and therefore we first suggest that you contact : www.nicfltd.org.com to obtain a list of recognized and reliable carpet fitters in your area. They should be able to provide a quotation to successfully complete this work in your home.

Polypropylene rugs

The last post covered wool rugs, this time we look at the synthetic alternative.

Polypropylene is recognized as the most advanced synthetic yarn employed in the floor-covering rug industry. When polypropylene yarn is heat set and twisted, and then produced in a heavy weight high density construction, it can offer an excellent resilient and very hard wearing rug surface.

Polypropylene can be dyed during the yarn production process in a totally consistent wide variety of colours all of which are stain resistant. This is an easy care yarn surface and will provide many years of wear and tear.

At Majestic Rugs we include both traditional rugs and modern rugs made with synthetic yarn - all of the highest quality, of course

Wool rugs

Wool is a superior natural fibre which offers warmth and softness, bulk and resilience, and very hardwearing appearance retention in high density floorcovering construction. Wool yarns have natural insulating properties which reduce heat loss in the home, and also reduce noise levels, providing improved air quality for a comfortable home environment.

Wool has an inbuilt resistance to soiling due to its natural oils and the fibre structure which act as a shield against household dirt and daily spills and thrills. Wool is naturally flame resistant and because of its high moisture and nitrogen content, wool is difficult to ignite and has low flame spread and heat resistant properties. Wool does not melt or drip and has natural and unique self extinguishing properties.

Wool fibres may be dyed in the most delicate and deep colours to offer a wide variety of choice for any home, and is the natural choice for comfortable living. We’re proud of the quality of all our rugs - you can be assured that they will be of the highest standard.

Next time we’ll look at the virtues of polypropylene rugs.
