St George’s Day rug

In celebration of St George’s day, we thought you might like to consider a couple of rugs:

A simple, washable England flag rug is available from Amazon – perhaps something for a child’s room for the forthcoming World Cup festivities!

And for those who fancy something soft in which to sink your toes, there is a rather snuggly sheepskin rug available with the England flag (and there’s one for Cornwall, too!)

iRobot Roomba for rugs?

no original description. Most likely a Roomba ...

An update on a review of the iRobot Roomba from 2008.

I thought it about time to see how well these little time-savers might be working out for people. One fair indicator of how well a product is being received is to see if Amazon stock it and what reviews there may be. And indeed, you can buy a Roomba from Amazon and there are some useful reviews to help you decide whether such a contraption may be for you, or not…

It seems that such a machine would work well on either carpet or wood flooring with rugs, including those with fringing, but perhaps not a good idea for shaggy rugs – and certainly not those we sell, being especially sumptuous!

Will I buy one? Well the cheap vacuum purchased when I moved in is a great disappointment, so I will be comparing closely with a Dyson (my vacuum of choice previously).   Though I’m not sure what the cats might make of this wee machine pottering about the place…

Rugs and cats…

Chatting with a customer recently, Des discussed the following issue for cat owners with rugs.

Fringed rugs – irresistable to a cat; be aware that if you buy a fringed rug, your cat is going to be very pleased with you for providing this length of toy for them to play with.

Also having a loop-piled rug is not a good idea. It can be absolutely heartbreaking to buy a beautiful new rug and to find that it has been severely damaged by your cat within just a few days of purchase.

All cats will sharpen or stretch their claws, and all healthy cats will find a fringe an irresistible target.

This advice would also apply to furniture and to other textile materials in the home such as curtains and cushions.

So we suggest cat owners avoid fringes and loop-pile rugs

New Shaggy Rugs

With the updated ranges for 2010, we are pleased to now offer all of the Shaggy rugs in all sizes. And just now the sale prices apply to the larger rugs too!

A sample of the Olive Green Shaggy Rug

This year’s new colours include an olive green shaggy rug, a gorgeous sapphire blue shaggy rug, and a snow white shaggy rug. The red rug has also been brightened, so now is less of a rusty red and is more vibrant.

I have to admit that these rugs are lovely underfoot, having treated myself to one for the bedroom. And I make use of a sample strip just in front of the sofa – that is nice to rest my feet upon – I can see, with the new colours and sizes, that more shaggy rugs will be adorning our home this year!

Plain rugs – the new Stipple range

When Des said he was including a new range of plain rugs and calling it Stipple, I was a little concerned. Knowing that all the other Majestic Rugs are of a certain sumptuousness I have to admit that the name brought to mind something less soft and luxurious.

When the samples arrived to be photographed for the website I was wonderfully impressed – the quality is such that one could have this rug in a bedroom and it will certainly feel lovely underfoot.

Of course the name Stipple refers to the stippled colour effect of the rug – and in that respect suits it perfectly. So I wanted to write this blog post for those who might have a concern that the quality and thickness might not be up to the usual standard – it certainly is and feels like a thick, deep velvet.

The depth and quality of the Stipple rugs

A woven Wilton heavy weight plain rug, the Stipple range is produced in 100% Stain Resistant Polypropylene yarn to offer many years of luxury and comfort.
